Women's Futsal Season Recap 2023-24

Women's Futsal Season Recap 2023-24
When you are in a close race for a playoff spot, you need to win the right games.  Unfortunately for the 2024 Rattlers Women's Futsal team, the "right game" was a pivotable match against Olds College on the final weekend of the regular season.  While the MHC Women battled hard, they ultimately ended up on the wrong end of a 3-2 score, and the team's playoff hopes were dashed.

The 2024 Rattlers Women's Futsal team's conference record was 4-5-1. Three of the four wins were spectacular – 12-0 and 12-1 against Ambrose University and 10-0 versus Prairie College. On the other hand, none of MHC's losses were blowouts – the team was "in" every game it ended up losing.

Maisa Rebello and Abby Lalach led the team on the court this year, and both were recognized by the ACAC for their efforts.  Rebello was named to the ACAC South All-Conference team, and Lalach was selected as the ACAC South Rookie of the Year.

At the MHC Athletic Awards banquet, the Rattlers Women's Futsal awards were presented to the following athletes:
Rattler Award – Molly Morris
Rookie of the Year – Abby Lalach
Most Valuable Player – Maisa Rebello

Lalach was also named MHC Women's Overall Rookie of the Year.

Despite missing the playoffs this season, there is ample hope for the MHC Women's Futsal team next year.  When the "right game" falls in your favour, you are in the mix and a long playoff run beckons.
