Player of the Month - October

Alexis Ratke and Stefan Vrska have been named the Moxies Players of the Month for October.

Alexis Ratke

Alexis Ratke was a phenomenal student-athlete on the soccer field in the 2024 season, making her mark in the league in her very first year and becoming 2024 ACAC Rookie of the Year. Alexis finished the season as the top scorer on her team and tied for the most assists as well. As a strong offensive threat for the Rattlers, Ratke finished her first season with 23 shots on goal and six goals. A hat-trick in a 3-0 win during her fourth game secured her as the Medicine Hat College Player of the Week in early September.

Head Coach of Medicine Hat Rattlers Women’s Soccer, Joe Taylor, says, “Alexis has truly made an impact on the team this season. Her hard work and dedication are evident in every practice and game, where she showcases her dynamic dribbling skills. With an uncanny ability to maneuver past defenders, she not only creates scoring opportunities for herself but also sets up her teammates for success. Her energy and passion inspire everyone around her, making her a vital asset to our team.”

Ratke, from Lethbridge, is in her first year of General Studies.

Stefan Vrska

Stefan Vrska played a crucial role for the Rattlers Men's Soccer team during the 2024 season. As a rookie goalkeeper, Stefan stepped up as a starter from day one. After nine games played, Vrska finished second in the south division for total saves, stopping 53 shots to end up in the back of the net. His contributions to the team guaranteed him as 2024 ACAC Rookie of the Year.

Head Coach of Medicine Hat Rattlers Men’s Soccer, Damir Omerovic, says, “Stefan made an immediate impact in his first season, showcasing both talent and leadership. His contributions were pivotal to our success, demonstrating consistency and versatility on the field. Beyond his technical abilities as a goalkeeper, Stefan’s character and work ethic set him apart, earning the respect of teammates and coaches alike. In addition to his athletic performance, Stefan has excelled academically, balancing the demands of being a student-athlete with a strong commitment to his studies.”

Omerovic also expressed his excitement for Stefan’s upcoming years. “I look forward to seeing him continue to grow and help lead the Rattlers soccer program to new heights in the seasons to come.”
