Athletes of the Week - March 11

We are excited to announce the Rattlers Players of the Week, sponsored by Cheerleaders Barber Lounge and BYZ Enterprises, recognizing two athletes for their outstanding performances this past weekend.

#21 Kiana Dumais - Women's Futsal

Dumais played a crucial role in the Rattlers’ bronze-medal finish at the ACAC Futsal Championships, proving to be a defensive anchor for the team. She started every game of the season and delivered a standout performance in the semifinals, playing the full match without a single substitution while tasked with marking the ACAC Player of the Year. Just four hours later, she returned to the pitch and helped the Rattlers secure a bronze medal.

In her first season of futsal, Dumais quickly established herself as a key defender, earning a spot on the ACAC Second-Team All-Conference. Her ability to read the game, shut down opposing attackers, and provide stability at the back was instrumental in the Rattlers’ success throughout the season.

From Warman, Saskatchewan, Dumais is in her first year playing in the ACAC while pursuing a Bachelor of Nursing at Medicine Hat College.

#10 João Nascimento

Nascimento was a key piece in the Rattlers’ championship-winning season, helping the team secure ACAC gold with a 4-2 victory over the NAIT Ooks. Throughout the championship tournament, he proved to be a difference-maker, scoring five goals in four games, including the Rattlers’ third goal in the gold medal match. His efforts helped Medicine Hat go undefeated in the playoffs after entering as the top seed from the South Division with a 6-1-3 record.

This season’s success builds on Nascimento’s impressive rookie year, where he helped the Rattlers reach the ACAC final, ultimately finishing with a silver medal. His standout play earned him ACAC Rookie of the Year honors and a spot on the All-Conference team. This year, he elevated his game even further, earning First-Team All-Conference recognition and being named to the tournament All-Star team.

From Fortaleza, Brazil, Nascimento is in his second year playing in the ACAC while studying Sport and Event Marketing Management at Medicine Hat College.
