Soccer Comes up Short Against South Division Top Teams

Our Rattlers Women went into SAIT to play the #14 ranked Trojans on Saturday and fell 2-0 while being outshot 23-6. The ladies fell behind in the 37th minute on a goal by SAIT Forward Amy Fallows and that score held through the remainder of the first half. SAIT extended their lead as Isabel Vega beat Rattlers Goalkeeper Abby Lalach (1st year, Cranbrook, BC, Education). The Rattlers tried to claw their way back into the game but couldn't mange to get one past the SAIT keeper. Player of the Game for the Rattlers was Audyn Mettauer (1st year, Medicine Hat, AB, Kinesiology).

The men were next to take on the #2 nationally ranked Trojans and SAIT lived up to their ranking as they dropped the Rattlers by a score of 6-0. Goals in the 1st half for the Trojans came in the 12th, 18th, & 25th minute and in the 49th, 68th, & 75th minute of the 2nd half. On Sunday the Rattlers played host to the rival Lethbridge Kodiaks in very tight matchups. The women fell behind early in the 10th minute on a goal by Raeleen Vanden Dunge. The Kodiaks added to their lead in the 25th minute on a goal by Monatana Rouselle which they took into the half as a 2-0 lead. The 2nd half was back and forth early and eventually lead to a goal by Audyn Mettauer to cut the lead in half. The Rattlers tried to find the equalizer but could not make up the second goal and fell 2-1 on the day. The Player of the Game was Kaylei Hole (4th year, Medicine Hat, AB, General Studies)

The men came in looking for their first win of the season and would love nothing more than get it against the rivals from Lethbridge. Unfortunately, it did not start well for the Rattlers as in the 16th minute a goal by Ryder Skolka of Lethbridge opened the scoring to put the visitors ahead. 9 minutes later the Rattlers responded on a goal by Tata Mugisha (1st year, Moose Jaw, SK, Criminal Justice) to tie the game 1-1 going into halftime. The second half got flipped on its head when a second yellow card was given out to the Rattlers in the 56th minute putting them behind by one man on the field. To make matters worse a penalty kick was given to Lethbridge in the 82 minute which they converted to take the lead. Some late pressure by the men proved not to be enough as they fell 2-1. The Player of the Game was Noah Scolly (1st year, Medicine Hat, AB, Nursing).
