Rattlers Women Soccer Split; Men's Soccer Full of Ties

The Rattlers Women's Soccer Team was victorious on Saturday lead by a hat trick from Jaycee Berggren (1st year, Swift Current, SK, Pre-Dental Hygiene) in a convincing 5-1 win over the Olds College Broncos. A goal by Keandra Leslie and an own goal by the Broncos finished off the scoring with Abby Lalach picking up her first win of the year. On Sunday however the results were not in the women's favor as they fell 2-1 to the reigning ACAC Champions RDP Queens. A goal by Maisa Rebello (4th year, Rio de Janeiro, BRA, Business Administration) in the 56th minute was sandwiched between goals by the Queens who ultimately came out with the three points.

The Men's team came away with two draws over the weekend against teams who last year were in the playoff play-in game. On Saturday the men fell behind early to the Olds Broncos but battled back in the 30th minute on a goal by Mizuki Ozawa (2nd year, Fukeda, Japan, University Studies). No goals were had in the second half as the teams finished 1-1. On Saturday it was the same story with RDP getting on the board first to take an early lead. The Rattlers batted back to tie it up just before halftime on a penalty kick by De'Shaunt Gelinas-Cato (1st year, Regina SK, Kinesiology) The Rattlers took the lead midway through the second half on a goal by Joel Lehr (1st year, Medicine Hat, AB, Kinesiology) only to give it back moments later when RDP came down and tied it up. The teams would have a spirited final 20 minutes but no more goals would come.

The Rattlers soccer teams head to Ambrose on Saturday for a game against the Lions with the women kicking off at 4:00pm and the men to follow at 6:00pm.
