Rattlers 22/23 Season Recap- Volleyball

Women's Volleyball

Record: 5-14; 6th in South Division

Playoffs: Lost to Lethbridge in Play-in Game

After a shaky start to the season in October, the Women's Volleyball team pulled off a 4-2 month of November with wins over Concordia, NAIT, and two victories over Olds. Unfortunately, the momentum did not carry over into the Winter semester as the Women would go on to lose some powerhouse teams including the CCAA Gold and Bronze medalists. The team did qualify to play in the play-in game against Highway 3 rivals Lethbridge College but ultimately fell to them to end the season. The team was led by Outside Hitters Ella Nichols (Medicine Hat, AB | 2nd year | Business Administration) and Anica Haberstock (Vernon, B.C. | 4th year | U.T. Education) with 1.91 kills/set & 1.73 kills/set respectively. Hailey Adams (Medicine Hat | 2nd year | Environmental Reclamation Technician) was 4th overall in the ACAC in digs/set with 3.46.

Men's Volleyball

Record: 2-17; 7th in South Division

Playoffs: Did not Qualify

The 22/23 season for the men's volleyball team was one of growth and development as many younger players were tasked with coming in and starting in a league with many teams having experienced rosters. Playing in an ultra-competitive south division, the men's team found themselves in some very tight matches but in the end would find them on the losing side of those matches. Throughout the season it was evident that the players were willing to learn and were constantly growing as athletes which bodes well for the future. The team was led by outside hitters Nathan Chernik (Bonnyville, AB | 4th year | U.T. Education) and Jordan McKee (Calgary, AB | 1st year | General Studies) who had 3.24 & 2.30 kills/set each. Keanen Hamilton (Meadow Lake, SK | 1st year | General studies) led the way with 7.50 assists/set.
