Athletes of the Week - October 28

The Rattlers are proud to announce this week’s Players of the Week, sponsored by Cheerleaders Barber Lounge and BYZ Enterprises.

Madison Scrimger - Cross-Country Running

Fourth-year runner Madison Scrimger once again showed her leadership and experience on the course at the 2025 ACAC Championships in Grande Prairie. Competing in a challenging and technical 6 km race, Scrimger crossed the finish line in 23:48, earning an impressive fourth-place individual finish.

Her performance was a key factor in helping the Rattlers women’s team secure second place overall among the ACAC programs, demonstrating both her consistency and commitment throughout the season. Scrimger’s ability to handle pressure and deliver when it matters most has made her a cornerstone of the Rattlers Cross Country team.

Originally from Harrogate, England, and currently in her fourth year of the Nursing program, Scrimger continues to set an example for her teammates and being the reference for the Women's Cross-Country Running team.

Matheus Tavares - Men's Soccer

Third-year student-athlete Matheus Tavares delivered an outstanding performance throughout the 2025 ACAC Men’s Soccer Championships, earning a spot on the All-Tournament Team. Competing as part of the Rattlers’ historic run to a silver medal, the best finish in program history, Tavares showcased his trademark intensity and versatility across all three days of competition.

Starting every game and sitting for only ten minutes throughout the 270 minutes played on the weekend, Tavares proved to be a vital contributor on both ends of the field. His efforts in the quarter-final matchup against The King’s University earned him Player of the Game honors after a dominant display marked by defensive precision and relentless energy.

Originally from Petrópolis, Brazil, Tavares is in his third year of the Business Administration Diploma program. However, it seems like he already has a master’s degree in how to play on the wing, covering runs on the defensive side and constantly making overlapping runs in the final third.
